Rover Review Heather & Jazzy’s Nightmare Story

My Rover.com Review by Heather

My name is Heather and the dog you see in the photos is my little hairless rescue Jazzy.  I adopted her from NakedK9Rescue and Petfinder.  Jazzy was rescued from a puppymill in Texas and moved to her foster home in Kentucky.  I was sooo blessed to find her and brought her home to live with me forever in 2011.  I’m not sure what happened to her while she was surviving in the puppymill in TX, but she is timid, skittish, very submissive and shadows me everywhere.  I told her she had literally hit the lottery and I will forever protect her and unconditionally love her forever.  She is a super fast runner and loves trailing me when I do 3 mile runs.  She’s my best friend.
I found what I thought was the perfect pet sitter on the website Rover.com.  The sitter shows no negative reviews and only 5-star reviews.  I did a ‘meet and greet’ with the Rover.com sitter days in advance.  I dropped Jazzy off for a 1 night stay with the Rover.com sitter a couple days later and within 6.5 hours she was gone.  The pet sitter had her door open and did not have her backyard fence secured and Jazzy got out.
I’m having a horrific time right now as my life has forever changed because of Rover.com.  I found Jazzy’s little hairless 10 pound wounded body dead on Interstate 75 southbound on the inside median between Wadegreen Rd and Chastain Rd exit, Georgia.  Her final terrifying hours were spent exhausted, cold and alone running approximately 3 miles down a major interstate concrete median before a car killed her.
Two kind strangers notified me on Facebook around 8 AM the following morning stating they thought they saw a little dog on I-75 S.   I rushed to the location.  It was her!  I sobbed and screamed as I sprinted to pick her tiny lifeless body up off the side of the busy highway in a towel.  I kept telling her I am so so sorry!  I prayed to God asking that if I hold her long enough I could warm her cold lifeless body.
Rover.com did nothing to help me find her even though their sitter was negligent.  If it wasn’t for friends and strangers taking a small fraction of their time to post on the Facebook community pages and share my post I would have never known what happened to her.   Thank you and I love you.   I can now have some form of closure.
Since I cannot post my review on the Rover.com site I have created my own review with the video below and this website.  I pray other pet owners will see this information so the next time they book with Rover.com they will know they may not see all the reviews and if your pet dies while in the care of Rover they return your baby with no heartbeat or let you go terrified and frantically searching alone for your pet that you may never find.  That’s what sadly happened to me.  They will not help you search for your pet.  Rover.com did send me duplicate “copy and paste” condolence letters and each copied letter had two different employees signature.  I cried when they did that.  It’s like adding salt to a wound.  🙁  They may refund the cost of your pets stay and all or some of your cremation fee, but that is at Rover.com’s discretion.
Right now you can book your stay with the Rover.com sitter Jazzy had because the sitter’s Rover page is active Click Here and Rover.com approves this sitter to take your pet.   If your pet dies while in the care of a Rover.com sitter you are left with nothing.  The Rover.com policy is basically ….  If your pet dies, it’s ‘Not Our Fault’.  I left Jazzy in the care of the Rover.com sitter and her heart was beating.  Rover.com did not return her.  I had to find her with no help from Rover and she did not have a heartbeat.
My full story is listed below in the blog and the video.  Feel free to leave a comment.  All the information described in this video is solely an interpretation of my personal experience and not for you to be swayed by my personal opinion….

Rover Said Not Our Problem

To view complete review by Elisabeth J. on 10/20/2017 visit Better Business Bureau.   BBB.org We used Rover.com to board one of our dogs the wedding week. She came back with a severe cough that spread to all of our other pets. That's right, she came back with the flu. Long story short, I contacted the woman that at least one of her dogs are obviously ill and I contacted Rover who basically said "not our problem" while our vet bills pile in. She still shows as active on the app and has FIVE dogs with the

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions answered based on mine and Jazzy’s experience.

You now have a precious pet with no heart beat.  You feel like you’re dying inside.  You weep and mourn for weeks, months and years because you wish you could have protected your baby from a company so negligent in so many areas.  Rover.com will help you, they will pay for your pet to be cremated.

Rover.com does not inspect their sitter’s homes or businesses.  The Rover.com site states you can ‘trust’ them.  When anything goes wrong, the response is….. Not my fault.  It is your responsibility to go inspect all sitter’s fences, all of the windows in the Rover.com sitter’s home, etc.

I still do not know.  Only the Rover.com sitter knows the answer.
If you’re pet is injured or dies while in the Rover.com sitter’s care, Rover.com will refund your money and the amount is at their discretion as you may not get all of it back.  Since you are refunded it appears in the Rover.com system the pet was never with their sitter.  The transaction is removed.  That means, in my case, since Jazzy was killed within 6.5 hours of her stay with the Rover.com sitter she ‘literally’ did not stay the full night because she was physically missing.  So I can’t leave a review on the Rover.com site because Jazzy was never with the Rover.com sitter.  This website is the only way you will ever know my review.  You will never see the other reviews like mine either.
Not disclosing the truth to you so you make the proper decision for your pet.  If you do not see my review you will hire the same Rover.com sitter that allowed Jazzy to die.  The Rover.com stance is ‘Not My Fault’ and your negative review be not be posted on their site.  If you go through a heartbreaking event like I have with finding Jazzy dead on the interstate median you will have to do weeks worth of work like I have done with this website and video and then loads more work to try to share your review to the millions of pet owners and maybe save some little animal’s lives. I’m so exhausted and hurt.  🙁

Rover.com was notified and they will not help you search nor do they have a team to help.  It’s not their fault.

So they can continue to make money off of their sitter and hide that a pet died while in the care of their sitter.  If you do not know, you will think the Rover.com sitter is capable of watching your pet and pay money to Rover.com.  Thus your pet could possibly be in grave danger and Rover.com pockets your money.  God forbid your pet dies while in their care…. It’s not their fault.  You are left with a pet with no heart beat.

Share RoversDirtySecret.com and share Jazzy’s Rover.com video.  The more pet owners that know about Rover.com’s horrific ‘Not My Fault’ policy the more small heart beats that will be saved and pet owners will not go through a devastating and traumatic event in their life like I have.
